Oh my goodness, I'm still absolutely basking in the glow of my first ever visit to Groundswell Agriculture! 💚😌☀️ Honestly, I've been trying to find the words to sum up something so utterly amazing in just one post, but it's genuinely hard – which is why I created a whole podcast episode about it!

For those who might not know, I became completely invested in regenerative farming last year, even completing the fantastic Kiss the Ground course to learn the fundamentals. I've become absolutely fascinated by how we can link farming and sustainability, and how we can help connect more people to the incredible things the farming community is doing for our planet.

Groundswell truly embodies this. It's a unique event that embraces people from all walks of life – whether you have 30 sheep or 300, whether you're in marketing, flowers, or just a curious consumer – everyone is welcome. People are so willing to share their experiences, exchange knowledge, and simply fill seminars with pure enthusiasm and brilliant questions. It’s that feeling of true belonging that really stuck with me.

My Groundswell Highlights & What You'll Hear in the Episode!

I learned so much, but here are just a few highlights that made my Groundswell experience so special – and you'll hear me delve deeper into these in the new episode:

  • Milk & More: I was genuinely blown away by some of the insights from a fantastic seminar by Matthew Evans from Fat Pig Farm, discovering you'd need to drink 22 glasses of soy milk to gain the amount of calcium you receive from just one glass of cow's milk! 😮 Mind-blowing, right?

  • Unexpected Flavours: And yes, I can confirm, goats meat is incredibly tasty and completely surpassed my expectations – huge shout-out to The Kenyan Pig Farmer for serving up some awesome food!

  • What Does Regen REALLY Mean? One of the most valuable takeaways was grappling with what 'regen' truly means. As discussed in a fantastic AHDB session with Izak, Ben Thewsey, Farmers in Training, and Farmer Tom, it's clear it means different things to different people. But one thing is for sure: we all care deeply about how we engage with farming and how we leave the land for future generations.

  • The Power of Wool: You know my love for British wool! I learned so much about how exceptionally valuable sheep wool is and its potential for fantastic fashion accessories, with different breeds providing unique types. Huge thanks to the brilliant folks at South East England Fibre Shed and Dodgson Wood for sharing their passion for this sustainable material.

  • Conversation Starters: On a lighter note, who knew a pair of boots could spark so many conversations?! My cow print boots were certainly a talking point, with so many people running to say hello – it just goes to show, wearing what you love and being yourself can kickstart the best connections! 💪

  • A Welcoming Community: Most importantly, the regen community itself is just so welcoming, non-judgmental, and genuinely open to continuous learning. I truly felt at home, happy, and completely in my element. I'm already marking my calendar for next year!

This episode is packed with "real talk" from the ground, deep dives into what regenerative agriculture means today, and a look ahead to the future of farming. You'll hear directly from incredible people like The Chief Shepherdess Zoe Colville and Ed Brown from Wildfarmed, among many others!
